Mistinguett, born Jeanne Bourgeois, was a French entertainer, singer and actress. She appeared in shows at the Casino de Paris, the Folies Bergere, Moulin Rouge and Eldorado. She was the highest paid entertainer and most popular during her time. She hypnotized her audience with her risque routines and was known to have scandalous love affairs. I think my favorite fun fact about her is in 1919 her legs were insured for 500,000 francs which was a lot of money during those years. Every time I look at photographs or watch video clips I'm just in complete awe of her. She exudes French beauty, and glamour. If I could go back about 100 years I'd like to think I would have lived a life similar to hers.
Thank you everyone for the sweet and welcoming comments. I was glad to know I wasn't forgotten so easily! I hope you all were able to enjoy your labor day weekend. I was lucky to have Monday off and took advantage of those Labor Day sales and went thrift shopping with a friend and had a very, very successful day! I'm making sure that my next post is dedicated to all the lucky finds I took home.
