Thirty

I've recently become fascinated with bento box art. I came across a couple of photographs of some bento boxes people put together and I couldn't get over how adorable and amazing they were! I immediately went to the Japan town here and purchased some supplies to start creating my own bento boxes. I can't remember the site I was reading about them on but it explained how Japanese Mom's take pride in their bento boxes and are very competitive in having the best presentation. I have yet to get started on it but as soon as I do I promise to post some photo's on here! I doubt they will ever compare to the photo's below but still it will be a fun attempt.

my supplies!

These things are great! I remember reading about them in one of the Canadian newspapers last year. The comments got quite vicious as I recall... on the value of having a career or being a stay-at-home mom who makes bento boxes. But I think they're just wonderful. I lovvvve the Wall-E one! Egg Evie is just too cute!

My mom's heart shaped peanut butter and honey sandwiches have nothing on these!

omg these are adorable (though the one with the lady and the face mask is kinda frightening)! i wish my mom put this much effort into my lunch :)

Every time I see these I think "Who would ever eat those? It cute to destroy!"

Emily-Agreed! Wall-E is probably my number one favorite Pixar film. Also, I'm all for feminism but that still doesn't mean we should disencourage or frown upon stay at home moms. I'm glad that you and I can still appreciate the efforts those Mom's put into their art. ;)

Meggstatus-I swear..the Japanese are always one-upping

Jasmine-I'm totally freaked out by the lady with the face mask as well! But I have to appreciate the art and time put into it

Kyra-right?! why are Japanese people the most adorable things on earth! they are such trendsetters

No way!!!! These are amazing! I would love to have a go at something like this! When I was younger I used to make little gardens out of sweets as an Easter present for my parents (they never ate it, surprise surprise, after I'd had my grubby little fingers all over it!). Can't wait to see what you come up with!

It's such a conundrum; I love Japanese food so they make me hungry but it is hard to stomach the thought of destroying such adorable art!
